“Soon,” whispered the winds to the little one, but the little one’s heart did not stop aching.

This was a piece intended to explore a sense of grief. Around 2 years ago, I learned over and over again the hard way that sometimes, someone or something can mean everything to you and still be really bad for you in the end. This drawing was intended to capture how hollow my inner child still feels whenever they think of those times.

The pain will never fully heal – that’s just how traumatic life lessons often are – but the world will always pay you back for your troubles.
